SMS marketing is a great channel for small business and large enterprises alike. With open rates and response times like no other medium, they boost sales and strengthen customer engagement.
But as a highly regulated industry, it comes with its unique set of rules and important updates. In 2023, this includes 10DLC registration.
What is 10DLC?
10-digit long codes are basically the local phone number you use to send text messages in Notificare. You lease these numbers from us, and you can then use them to send text messages to basically any mobile number in the world.
10DLC has become the go-to alternative to shared short codes marketing for A2P (application to person) messaging. And it's now seen as an industry standard.
What is changing?
For those of you that already send text messages with Notificare, this is probably nothing new. We've already contacted all of you regarding this new rule. In fact, most of you are already sending A2P SMS campaigns using registered U.S. 10DLC numbers.
But for those of you that are unaware of this change, it basically means that you will not be able to send messages to U.S. recipients after August 31st 2023, without a registered A2P 10DLC Campaign.
Why is this happening?
These regulations were made to protect consumer privacy and keep them from receiving unwanted, intrusive messages.
With rules like this in place, SMS campaigns will be more swift and cost-effective. A 10DLC campaign registration will also increase deliverability and develop greater trust with your audience. Ultimately, businesses and organizations targeting U.S. consumers can benefit tremendously from SMS.
What can I do?
A2P campaign registration approvals take time, have additional costs and require Notificare to cooperate with third parties. The process may be time-consuming, but once you complete this registration, you can rest assure that all text messaging campaigns to consumers in the U.S. from a U.S. registered number will be delivered.
Nevertheless, we will do the heavy lifting for you. All you need to do is provide all the data required to accomplish this registration. So if you've provisioned but have not yet register your U.S. 10DLC phone number, and you are sending messages to U.S. consumers, go ahead and contact us, as soon as possible, via our Support Channel.
